New regulations to ban surprise medical bills next year are seeing a lot of pushback from providers and payers. The problem, they say, is in allowing sufficient time for them to update their policies.
Insurers and hospitals would like to see safe harbor implementation through 2023 that would protect them from penalties due to lack of infrastructure to fully implement the new notices and forms that will be required beginning in 2022.
