Turmeric, from the ginger family, has long been touted for its healing properties. Lately, researchers have been looking into turmeric as a possible ally in the fight for a cure for cancer. Specifically, a chemical in turmeric known as curcumin.
There is still a long way to go, however, before scientists will have all of the facts. They do know that taking turmeric orally is unlikely to reach cancer cells before the body breaks down the curcumin.
Scientists are continuing to work on the problem. Someday they may have an effective, healthy way to fight cancer.
