Research is showing that drinking coffee on a daily basis may actually make you healthier. The benefits include lowered risk of heart disease and living longer.
The results of drinking two to three cups of coffee every day benefit those with and without cardiovascular disease. This can mean a 10-15% lower risk of heart failure and coronary heart disease.
The most benefit was seen in those drinking two or three cups a day, while the benefits dropped off for those drinking more or less.
Coffee is also a great cognitive enhancer, waking you up and making you sharper. The key is not the caffeine, but rather the many biologically active compounds that “reduce oxidative stress and inflammation, improve insulin sensitivity, boost metabolism, inhibit the gut’s absorption of fat and block receptors known to be involved with abnormal heart rhythms.”
