There are thousands of these synthetic chemicals and they take a very long time to break down in the environment. They also take years for your body to break them down.

People who eat more home-cooked meals have much lower levels of these hormone-disrupting chemicals in their blood. Meanwhile, microwave popcorn is one of the worst offenders when it comes to PFAs.
