Humans are better suited to staying active than they are for sitting in a chair at a computer all day. Studies show that people who sit for long periods of time are at greater risk of developing chronic health problems like cancer, heart disease and diabetes.
One study attempted to find out what the least amount of exercise was necessary to counteract the harmful effects of sitting all day.
Their findings showed that a five minute walk every half hour would reduce blood sugar as well as reducing feelings of fatigue, lifting mood and raising energy levels.
