New Masks Will Be Able To Detect COVID-19

It may sound crazy, but engineers at UCSD have developed a color-changing strip that will be able to detect whether it has been in the presence of COVID-19.

When attached to a mask, the strip would gather enough particles during the day to be able to let you know whether or not you had been exposed to the coronavirus. This would be accomplished through a small breakable blister pack that, when released onto the strip, would react to molecules produced by the coronavirus.

These additions to the masks would also work to identify the presence of other viruses, like SARS and MERS.
