Phoenix, Arizona has found an innovative way to help feed the homeless while also helping local farms and businesses.
Using the the funding from the CARES Act, the city tasked a nonprofit, Local First Arizona, with finding a holistic way to help out. Feed Phoenix connected farmers and restaurateurs to make it happen.
They buy produce from farms and pay restaurants to prepare the food that then goes to food banks.
