Social Distancing Due To COVID-19 Is Having A Negative Effect On Mental Health

In preliminary studies, scientists are finding that, unsurprisingly, the quarantine and social distancing is causing problems with mental health and emotional wellbeing.

Measures taken to slow the spread of COVID-19 range from social distancing to full quarantine, depending on your location. Researchers are finding that the lack of direct human contact is negatively affecting people, causing anxiety and depression. The impact appears to be even greater for people in low-paying and insecure job positions.

Researchers believe that we need to start addressing these issues now, rather than waiting until quarantines are lifted, as that may be too late to mitigate the damage currently being done.
