School field trips have been a tradition for decades and a recent study is showing just how helpful these trips can be in raising performance in students. Exposing students to a broader world actually improves academic outcomes.
The study included trips to an art museum, a live theater performance and a symphony concert. Students who attended the field trips showed the benefits in higher exam grades, course grades and less absences and behavioral infractions.
Besides the increase in grades, there was also an increase in the desire to consume arts in the future and a more open-minded outlook.
